What exactly is a zero-turn riding lawn mower?
The engine of a zero-turn mower is connected to two separate hydraulic transmissions, so it can send power in any direction to the two drive wheels. This allows the operator to halt a wheel and do a perfect U-turn, or spin the machine on a dime.
Zero-turn mowers aren’t inexpensive. Compared to other riding lawn mowers, zero turns often fall at the higher end of the expense spectrum.
Reducing the Size of the Deck
Each pass across the yard can cover more ground with a broader cutting deck. Larger machines are more productive, but they cost more to run since they consume more electricity.
Measurement of Deck Elevation

Almost all contemporary lawn mowers feature decks that may be adjust
Deck height adjustment is a standard feature on today's lawn mowers.
The cutting height of most mowers with an adjustable deck can be set anywhere from around 1.5 inches to 4 inches, with a number of increments in between. This attribute is typically more of a desirable than a necessary one.
Water-to-Water Transfer
As expected with zero-turn mowers, hydrostatic transmissions will be standard.
Transmission is what sets a zero turn mower apart from a regular mower.
An ordinary mower just has one transmission, and it powers the rear wheels. Because of the way a zero turn works, it's as if you had two transmissions (in one unit), each one powering a different set of wheels.
One wheel can turn in reverse while the other moves forward using this set up. Because of this, a zero turn mower can spin around without needing any more room. The steering bars permit complete separation of wheel action.
How Much Gas Can You Fit In Your Tank?
The fewer times you have to fill up your gas tank, the higher its capacity. The smallest petrol tanks available today were 3 gallons, with most hovering around the 3.5-gallon mark.
Larger mowers are preferable for long-distance cutting.
